PRODUCT DETAILS
This is this extremely clean example of an early double-pickup Silvertone U2 1957-58
This example has a very nice playable neck, and very good frets, which you don't often find on these,
We think that this guitar is in excellent condition for the year and its a very rare find.
A very versatile guitar, with those two lipstick pickups it delivers its trademark organic tone a great live and recording tool.
The "Silvertone" version of the infamous Danelectro U2 model, which was sold exclusively through Sears department stores in the USA and these are much rarer than the "Danelectro" versions.
The Silvertone trademark was owned and used by Sears and Roebuck from 1941 to 1970. Sears applied the Silvertone name to various products, but mostly to its line of entry-level musical instruments.
You can see that this is a Danelectro U2 by its unique features, including the number and pattern of the screws on the back of the body, the round backplate that covers the electronics, the original lipstick pickups and wooden bridge, and the very distinct shape of the headstock, concentric tone and volume controls. Most of the ones you see have the more common Danelectro logo on the headstock.
Sold with an old good quality hard case
