PRODUCT DETAILS
Fender’s Limited Edition 40th Anniversary 1954 Reissue Stratocaster in Sunburst, produced in 1994, is an exceptional tribute to the very first year of the iconic Stratocaster. Conceived as a strictly limited production run of only 1,954 guitars worldwide, this instrument was built to honor the groundbreaking design that set the standard for electric guitars. Fender carefully recreated the details of the original 1954 Stratocaster—from its sleek contoured ash body with two-tone sunburst finish, to its single-ply white pickguard, round string tree, and vintage-style hardware.
The maple neck features a soft “V” profile and a 7.25" radius fingerboard, while the trio of specially voiced vintage-style single-coil pickups capture the unmistakable clarity and sparkle of the earliest Stratocasters. With its lightweight build, resonant tonewood selection, and meticulous craftsmanship, this anniversary edition delivers both the historical authenticity and tonal brilliance that discerning players and collectors seek.
Our example, number 1699 of the 1,954 made, is offered in excellent condition and represents one of the finest surviving specimens of this limited run. It remains almost entirely untouched, having formed part of a large, carefully maintained collection. Remarkably, the original protective film is still present on the pickguard, and there are virtually no signs of wear to the body, hardware, or frets. The neck retains its original finish with no discernible fret wear, and the instrument is superbly set up, offering a fast, comfortable playing experience.
Included with the guitar are its original paperwork and tremolo arm, along with a later-era Fender-shaped hard shell case.
The tone of a ’54 Stratocaster is legendary—crystalline highs with bell-like chime, a woody midrange, and a warm, resonant low end that responds beautifully to dynamic picking. The bridge pickup delivers that raw, cutting bite ideal for blues or early rock ’n’ roll, while the neck pickup provides a rounder, more vocal quality with glassy sustain. The in-between positions, made famous in the decades that followed, yield the signature “quack” that Strat players love—clear, percussive, and deeply musical. As the years progress, this instrument will only mature tonally, its woods opening up further and enhancing the already sublime voice of the guitar.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a historically significant Stratocaster reissue in exceptional condition—an instrument that will delight players with its sound and feel, while offering collectors an asset of lasting value.
