2008 Fender Custom Shop ’60s Stratocaster Time Machine NOS — Aged Olympic White-Fatboy Nitrate plate and extra loaded pickguard!
A really interesting Custom Shop Strat with a great bit of flexibility built into it.
This is a Fender Custom Shop ’60s Time Machine Series Stratocaster, finished in Aged Olympic White with a Nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Originally supplied in an HSS configuration, it came from the Custom Shop loaded with a Seymour Duncan SH-4 humbucker and a pair of Texas Special single coils, with the switching handled by Fender’s S-1 system.
The clever bit is that you get both pickup configurations with the guitar.
Alongside the original four-ply tortoiseshell HSS guard, the guitar comes with the now-discontinued “Fatboy” nitrate vintage-style pickguard, loaded with a set of Fender Custom Shop Fat ’50s single coils. So you can run it as the original HSS setup for something a little more modern and versatile, or swap to the Fat ’50s-loaded guard for a more traditional, fat ’60s Strat sound.
It’s a genuinely useful combination and makes this a particularly versatile Custom Shop Strat.
The guitar has an Alder body, Nitro finish and an oval ’60s-style neck with a beautiful AAA Rosewood fingerboard. Specs are:

Condition-wise, this is a used guitar and has some signs of use, along with light lacquer checking that you'd expect from a played Nitro-finished instrument. Nothing excessive — it's been used but certainly not abused. The frets are good and the guitar has an excellent setup.
There are also a few very fine hairline cracks around the neck pocket. These are fairly common on Nitro-finished Custom Shop Fenders and, importantly, are not structural.
It comes with the original Fender brown Tolex case, along with the original paperwork and case accessories.
A great Custom Shop Strat with a particularly useful trick up its sleeve — two very different pickup configurations in one guitar, and both included.
