Very cool 2005 Custom-Ordered Lacquered Tweed Lazy J LJ-20 Head & Cabinet in Very Good Condition!
Here’s something special: a custom-ordered Lazy J LJ-20 Head & 1x12" Cabinet, finished in beautifully aged lacquered tweed over solid pine construction. Built by Jesse Hoff in the UK, Lazy J amps have earned a reputation for delivering high-end, low-wattage tone that captures the magic of vintage American circuits with a refined, responsive feel all their own.
This particular LJ-20 features the classic 6L6/12AX7/5AR4 valve complement, giving it a slightly bigger low-end and headroom footprint than its EL84-driven cousins, while still retaining that touch-sensitive breakup Lazy J is known for. It’s fitted with the sought-after V.A.C. (Variable Attenuation Control) system, letting you push the amp into rich harmonic saturation without blowing out the room or your ears.
The matching 1x12” cabinet is loaded with a Celestion Alnico Blue, which pairs beautifully with this circuit, giving you a chimey top end, warm midrange, and just the right amount of speaker compression when things start cooking. Together, it’s a rig that can go from lush cleans to creamy overdrive with a turn of the volume knob.
Condition: This set is in Very Good condition overall. Both the head and cab are in perfect working order, with all valves running strong and everything functioning exactly as it should. Cosmetically, there are a couple of minor scuffs to the lacquered tweed, but nothing major, just honest signs of use on a lightly loved custom piece.
These don’t appear often, especially in this custom configuration, and when they do, they don’t linger for long. A boutique rig that nails the balance of vintage mojo and modern practicality.
As is standard practice with any new arrival in store, this very cool LJ-20 has been through the trusted hands of our team in our onsite workshop to ensure it is in tip-top shape for its new home and owner!
