2006 Gibson Les Paul Custom SG ’61 Reissue
A lovely example of Gibson’s Custom Shop-inspired SG lineage, this 2006 Les Paul Custom SG ’61 Reissue is finished in classic White and delivers exceptional playability with unmistakable vintage attitude.
Built to 2006 Gibson specifications, this model features a solid mahogany body with a set mahogany neck, long neck tenon, and an ebony fingerboard with pearl block inlays. The slim ’61-style neck profile offers fast, comfortable access across the register, and the guitar is currently set up beautifully, with plenty of fret life remaining. There are some signs of use and small marks, all in keeping with a used but cared for guitar. This is a true player’s instrument, responsive and inspiring in the hands.
Electronics have been tastefully upgraded with CTS pots and a new wiring loom fitted with genuine Luxe Bumblebee paper-in-oil capacitors. The middle switch position has been modified to allow the bridge and neck pickups to be engaged simultaneously, expanding tonal flexibility while retaining classic SG character. Tonally, the guitar delivers tight, focused lows, an assertive midrange bite, and clear, cutting highs, making it equally at home with classic rock, blues, and higher-gain applications. Dynamic response and note clarity are excellent, with strong sustain and articulation.
The guitar is fitted with brass Kluson saddles, contributing to a slightly enhanced midrange presence and solid note definition. Gold hardwear and Maestro Vibrola, with one replaced machine head. The back of the neck was professionally refinished by Waghorn Guitars some years ago; the work has been executed to a very high standard and feels superb in hand.
Cosmetically, the multiple-bound “open book” headstock shows attractive natural ageing, adding character without detracting from the guitar’s overall condition.
Supplied with the original Custom-shaped hard case, along with original paperwork and certificate of authenticity.
