PRODUCT DETAILS

This is a very nice 1965 Fender Stratocaster in Sunburst!

Back in 1965, this Start would have cost $281, and you would pay an extra $52.50 if you wanted the Fender Black Tolex case. Fair to say that this would prove to be a very good investment in both the amount spent and the time you would have been able to spend with this amazing instrument.

The neck date stamp tells us that it was in gestation in Fullerton, California on the 2nd April 1965, so should that be your birthdate, then this could be your birthday present this year.

The condition is good for the year, with many age-related marks and some fading of the original three-tone sunburst finish, as one would expect. It looks amazing in the flesh and only weighs. Worn gloss finish on the back of the neck and that lovely "played in" feel that you only get from a true vintage guitar.

The original plastics are in very good condition, it has its original Trem arm, and the original Kluson Deluxe machine heads work perfectly.

The fingerboard is in great shape, the newer frets are nicely crowned and polished, and this guitar plays really well. Two 1965 Grey bottom piscups and one 1965 Black bottom. The neck pup has been rewound and sounds as it should alongside the middle and bridge.

Later pots from the 80s and it has its original capacitor. This guitar has a 5-way blade selector switch. It weighs just 7.4lb and its super resonant with a nice acoustic ring. Rest assured that a fine "Strat" tone is delivered from this transition-era 65 Stratocaster.

With original tremolo arm and Black Tolex case. More photos of the guitar are available on our website, and on request.

Many famous guitarists played 1965 Fender Stratocasters, including Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Stevie Ray Vaughan also played a 1965 Stratocaster, particularly his "Number One" 1959 model. Other notable players of Stratocasters include George Harrison, who used his "Rocky" Stratocaster extensively with the Beatles, and Buddy Guy. Bonnie Raitt, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and Richard Thompson are also known to have played Stratocasters. In short, you would be in good company if you owned a '65 Strat!
