A superb example of a late CBS-era Telecaster, this 1981 Fender Telecaster in factory Olympic White has aged beautifully, with just the right amount of mellowing to the finish.
Built in the original Fullerton factory, this one-owner guitar remains in excellent condition throughout and is completely original. We have know this instrument and owner since the early 1980's and it was part of a large collection,
The slim C-profile maple neck offers a comfortable, fast feel, with a 42mm nut width and low, even action that makes it a joy to play. The original Olympic White finish has aged magnificently, now an "off white" slightly yellow cream in natural light. It looks amazing. Minimal fret wear, lots of life left in them and they are nicely polished. All the signs of a well looked after and treasured instrument.
The original F-stamped tuners, flat pole pickups, and pot codes all date to 1981. This guitar has been professionally set up and maintained. Weight is 10.45lb.
Tonally, this Tele delivers a clear, articulate voice with excellent presence—tight low end, crisp highs, and that classic Tele "twang" with just enough bite. The stock pickups from this period are highly regarded and sonically close to the early ’80s "Dan Smith" Telecasters, famously used by Jeff Buckley. Expect rich harmonic content and dynamic response that excels in both clean and driven settings.
A fantastic find for players and collectors alike, complete with its original period-correct Fender molded hardshell case and vintage Fender strap, and even the original Fender owners manual and its Chrome bridge cover!
