It has the "G" trapeze tailpiece, the G pointer knobs, the bound Ebony fretboard with Mother-of-Pearl thumbnail inlays, the original elevated back-painted Lucite pickguard, and the Space Control bridge.
The headstock has the original Waverly tuners with very clean buttons, still holding strong and turning smoothly.
The neck is straight and the truss rod is responsive. It’s currently strung with round-wound 11s. It has been professionally re-fretted and the overall setup is excellent, a great playing guitar. The heel plate, like many of these, has been replaced.
Worth noting that this guitar has a lacquered top, as opposed to the Nitron drum material used on the early example. There’s some really nice lacquer checking visible.
The finish seems to be 100% original with no touch-ups or overspray. It has been black-light tested here at Motomusic.
It has the usual chambered Mahogany body and Mahogany neck, with a medium C profile.
This guitar weighs 7lb 2oz.
The scale is 24.6”. It has a replaced carved bone nut and it is 1 11/16” wide.
The hardshell case (with the blue/gray speckled exterior) has the original factory paperwork original Gretsch leaflets and a vintage (presumably original) leather strap.
