1989 Gibson Les Paul Reissue β Pre-Historic β Heritage Cherry Sunburst
A very nice example of Gibson's increasingly collectible Pre-Historic Les Paul Reissues from 1989, finished in the ever-classic Heritage Cherry Sunburst. This Les Paul also has a nice flame top.
Produced during the period before the introduction of the Gibson Custom Shop, these early reissues represent an important chapter in Gibson's return to the golden-era Les Paul specifications. Often referred to as the Pre-Historic models, they were part of the company's renewed interest in recreating the look, feel and character of the much-loved original 1950s instruments.
These fabulous early reissues are particularly well regarded for their Bill Lawrence-designed HB-L and HB-R humbucker pickups, which offer a wonderfully articulate and dynamic take on the classic Les Paul sound. Plenty of warmth and body, with a punchy midrange, good clarity and a lovely degree of definition. Equally at home with clean, bluesy tones or pushed into classic rock territory.
This particular example presents very well for its 1989 vintage and remains in very good condition. The Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish looks fantastic, with just some light marks and swirls consistent with its age. There is one ding on the back of the guitar next to the control plate, and the strap buttons have been changed.
The guitar has a great setup, with the frets in good order, and plays beautifully. It weighs a comfortable 9.73lb. The neck is a slim '60s profile and the top nut measures 42.59mm.

A lovely opportunity to own one of Gibson's increasingly appreciated early Pre-Historic reissues. These are fascinating instruments from an important period in Gibson's history, offering plenty of vintage-inspired character and a very convincing Les Paul experience.
