A Beautiful 1972 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Ebony! In great condition!
A great Les Paul Custom from an iconic era! This gorgeous '72 LP Custom has recently arrived to us in-store & it is safe to say it has blown us all away!
As is expected on any instrument that has been played for 50 years, there are a few noticeable signs of wear & tear. However, overall this '72 Custom has aged beautifully! The checking, yellowing of the binding, and natural aging of the hardware are perfect! So perfect you could easily spend a few thousand more on the Custom Shop Relic similar, but not with this guitar's vintage vibe!
The '72 LPC also looks in overall good shape with no signs of any breaks on its one-piece Mahogany neck! This is also a great guitar to play with a lovely action and tone.
While some of the plastics have been replaced over the years such as the pickguard, switch tip, & 'poker chip' One of the tone pots has been replaced, but the original is in the case. The rest of the guitar has mostly all of the original parts, including the iconic 'waffle back' tuners.
It has the much loved Gibson emboss-covered 'PAT No.' T-Buckers. They measure 7.49k in the Neck & 7.37k at the Bridge. The neck pickup surround is not original. It has also had a re-fret in the past and the frets are nicely crowned and polished with plenty of life left in them. The three-way selector has also been replaced in the past.
The volume pots date 68' and the two-tone pots date 72'. There is evidence of some routing in the control cavity. This guitar may have had alternative pickups installed in the past. The Tune-O-Matic bridge has possibly been replaced and it is stamped "Made in Germany" on the underside. The output jack plate has also been replaced.
Please ask for additional photos if required.
This very resonant '72 LP Custom weighs in at a very nice 10.3lb & features a comfortable slim neck profile as you would expect on a 70s model measuring 43mm at the nut, The '72 also features the 'sandwich' body construction,
The '72 Custom comes with its original Gibson case which is equally as well-kept. All the latches are present and they work correctly.
This is a stunning "player grade" Les Paul for the "players" among you.
