This is a classic "all tube" EL84 "class A" design with a custom transformer that combined give the player a responsive rice tone A lot of thought went into these units, military spec PCB`s with robust precision routed direct-to-point gold flashed signal traces, top draw wiring and custom tube sockets and retainers, delivering a "boutique" tone.
As Genz Benz marketing stated at the time "tone is in your fingers, the Black Perl lets that tone come through. From the bell-like chime of single coils to the warm purr of humbuckers!"
The other nice feature is that it is power switchable 30,15 or 8 watts.
It has a 5 position voicing control, Thick, Dark, Natural, Bright and Deep which add a unique flavour, fatten up your single coils or add some chime to your humbuckers, the choice is yours. There is also a more conventional passive 3 band EQ to play with,
This all adds up to a solid versatile amplifier that would be a joy to own.
