2021 Fender Player Precision Bass
A virtually unplayed 2021 Fender Player Precision Bass in exceptional condition.
This is a seriously clean example that has clearly spent most of its life safely put away rather than being dragged around from gig to gig. In fact, it still has the original clear protective film on the pickguard — something the previous owner never got around to removing. The bass has a lovely easy action, feels great in the hands and is an absolute joy to play.
The Player Series was Fender’s take on the classic Precision, combining the familiar P Bass formula with a slightly more contemporary playing feel. The 2021 specification features an alder body, maple neck, 34" scale length, 20-fret fingerboard, Modern “C” neck profile and 9.5" radius. It is fitted with Fender’s Player Series Alnico 5 split-coil Precision Bass pickup, with simple master volume and tone controls, a four-saddle bridge and open-gear tuners. The Player Series was produced in Mexico.
Tonally, this is classic Precision territory, but with a little extra definition and bite from the Player Series Alnico 5 pickup. There is the familiar deep, solid low end that makes a P Bass such an essential studio and live instrument, coupled with a strong midrange and enough top-end presence to keep every note clear. It has that instantly recognisable Fender P Bass punch — warm and rounded when played gently, but capable of really digging in when you need the bass to push a track along.
The beauty of the Player P Bass is its simplicity. One great pickup, volume, tone and a comfortable neck — everything you need and nothing you don't. It works across pretty much any style, from vintage soul and Motown-inspired lines through rock, indie, country and modern studio work.
Our example is particularly appealing because of its condition. The untouched protective film on the pickguard is a lovely detail and gives you a good idea of just how little use this bass has seen. Add the excellent playing feel and you have a very fresh example of the first-generation Player Series Precision.
