PRODUCT DETAILS
Up for sale is a superb custom-built Tele-style partscaster by respected South Wales luthier Dave Dearnaley, built around the year 2000 and presented in excellent condition. Assembled using high-quality, genuine Fender hardware throughout, this instrument reflects the same level of care and musical focus that has made Dave’s hand-built acoustics so well regarded—we’re proud to stock his acoustic instruments in store, and this electric build carries that same ethos.
The guitar is constructed around a Fender-licensed neck and body supplied by Allparts, providing a solid, vintage-correct platform with great resonance and stability. The neck is a real highlight, carved to a comfortable ‘50s soft V profile that feels immediately familiar without being overly pronounced. It features vintage-style narrow/tall frets that offer a smooth, articulate playing experience across the board. The finish appears to be a lightly aged nitrocellulose, lending the guitar a subtly broken-in feel and an authentic, road-worn aesthetic that suits its early-2000s custom build origins perfectly. The guitar itself is a real joy to handle — it’s a featherweight at just 7.40 lbs, and it has a lovely acoustic ring to it, something we often find in particularly lively and resonant examples.
Electronically, the guitar is fitted with a pair of vintage Seymour Duncan pickups, with exact models unknown but clearly selected with care. They deliver classic Tele-style tones with plenty of clarity and balance, from a bright, cutting bridge sound that avoids harshness to a warm, rounded neck pickup that retains excellent definition. The middle position offers that familiar snap and versatility, making this a genuinely usable instrument across a wide range of styles.
The overall build quality is excellent, with a cohesive, resonant feel that goes beyond what you’d typically expect from a parts build. It responds well dynamically and plays cleanly up and down the neck, reflecting a thoughtful assembly and setup.
Condition-wise, the guitar has been very well looked after, showing only light signs of use consistent with careful ownership over the years. Any wear sits naturally within the lightly aged character of the instrument and does not detract from its appearance or performance.
It comes complete with a classic tweed rectangular hard case, offering both protection and a fitting vintage-inspired finish.
A well-executed, early-2000s custom Tele-style build from a trusted and experienced luthier, this is a characterful and highly playable instrument with quality components and a strong vintage-inspired feel.
