This is a very rare Bernd Martin classical, one of his very first builds made in 1978.
This is a well-played vintage classical, with lots of signs of age, and it's delivering a full sweet rich tone that you only hear after years of playing. This is a very interesting professional-grade instrument. The scale is 25 1/2" and the top nut at the point that it reaches the end of the fingerboard (its design extends its edge width slightly) is a standard classical 2"
Bernd Martin, born in Stuttgart, Germany, was the first Western European to apprentice as a guitar-maker in the workshop shop of José Lopez Bellido of the Granada school of classical and flamenco makers.
In 1978 he set up his own studio where he gained an international reputation as one of the finest builders in the Granada tradition this is a very early example of his fine work.
He passed away in 2018, but his son Lucas still carries on the Martin workshop in Granada.
This guitar was the ninth instrument that Bernd Martin built under his own name after finishing his apprenticeship with Bellido in 1978. It is a small-bodied Torres-style classical of European spruce and Indian rosewood.
Sold with a quality hardshell case.
