Here’s a proper bit of kit from the golden era of Music Man, a 1982 Seventy-Five Head that’s been looked after exactly the way you’d hope.
These amps have built a serious reputation over the years, and for good reason. Big, punchy, unmistakably warm, with that unique hybrid character that sits somewhere between classic tube feel and solid-state reliability. If you know these, you’ll already know what they’re capable of.
Condition is excellent. It’s clearly been well cared for throughout its life, with only light signs of use and no abuse. More importantly, it’s been properly maintained and regularly serviced, which is exactly what you want with an amp of this age.
Crucially, the original main HT filter capacitors have been professionally replaced with high-quality F&T 100uf 450V units, an essential upgrade for reliability and performance. The original Hi-Low power switch has also been swapped out for a high-quality APNM switch. Both upgrades have been carried out with care, and the original replaced components are included in the sale.
It’s just had a full service by Ward Guitar & Electronic Services, and comes with the report for peace of mind. Always reassuring to know exactly where you stand with a vintage amp.
Also included is the original slip cover, which is a nice bonus and another sign this one’s been respected over the years.
In terms of sound, it delivers exactly what you’d hope. Tight low end, clear mids, and plenty of headroom, with that distinctive character that cuts through a mix without ever sounding harsh. A real workhorse amp that still holds its own today.
All in all, a well-maintained, properly serviced example of a classic Music Man head, ready to be used, not just admired.
