Dearnaley Model 0 12 Fret Relic Torrefied Spruce Indian Rosewood K&K electronics 2024 serial number #32.
Another masterpiece from Dave Welsh workshop. This time we are treated to a 12-fret “Relic” example that projects with a tone and balance that will delight the player. In excellent condition and nicely “run in” played by Dave himself for a few months before coming to us,
These guitars respond particularly well to open tunings, without getting flustered and have superior intonation when compared to many high-end acoustics.
It has a lovely rich tone and a very pronounced sound thanks to its smaller body but with immense clarity through the quality of the materials and Dave's own bracing pattern.
All Dearnaley acoustics feature a "cylinder built" body and a build utilizing very old hand-selected re-claimed timbers. Influenced by master builder Stefan Sobell. This feature is believed to lessen dead spots and unwelcome wolf notes often present on many acoustic guitars along with enhancing response and headroom.
The tuned Torrefied Spruce top on this Model O combined with Dave's own "X" hand-carved bracing delivers the player this wonderful even balance between bass and treble and an astonishingly loud acoustic tone.
Dave uses Mahogany braces on the back, and 300-year-old hand-shaped Spruce braces on the guitar's top. The guitar's natural finish is a thin non-plastic Nitrocellulose.
This pattern was designed specifically for his unique body style which he describes as a scaled-up and deepened Parlour (the lower bout measures 15” 1/2" across) It's comfortable in your lap and feels and sits "just right" The style 0 also has a slightly longer body than the original Model 1.
The top back and sides are hand planed, the top nut and saddle are hand-carved, the Rosewood bridge is hand carved, as well as the bridge saddle.
His decades of guitar building and attention to the intonation of each instrument make this a formidable acoustic guitar. Also note the headstock angle which is 17 degrees, the hand-carved chunky three-piece mahogany neck (Or five if you include the Maple veneers) and the Indian rosewood fingerboard, it's all pure class.
This guitar is fitted with Robson black button machine heads on its slotted headstock and a professional quality K&K Pure Mini pickup has been fitted, ready to record or perform.
This is all done by hand, by one man in his workshop.
Please be aware that these instruments are made from re-reclaimed timbers and as such there are small imperfections in the timber that we feel add to the character of these guitars.
As is standard practice with any new arrival in store, this very cool Dearnaley Model 0 has been through the trusted hands of our team in our onsite workshop to ensure it is in tip-top shape for its new home and owner!
Our Dearnaley Model 0 comes with a Hiscox Hardshell Case!
