A beautifully preserved example of early-’80s Ibanez craftsmanship, this 1983 AS-80 in Natural finish captures everything players love about the golden-era Artist series. Built during a time when Ibanez was quietly outpacing many of its American counterparts in consistency and attention to detail, the AS-80 delivers that unmistakable semi-hollow warmth paired with articulate clarity and sustain.
The laminated maple body resonates with a lively, balanced tone, equally at home with clean, jazzy passages as it is pushing into gritty blues or classic rock territory. The slim, comfortable neck profile feels immediately familiar in the hand, making extended sessions effortless, while the original hardware and electronics continue to perform exactly as they should, offering a wide tonal range with plenty of character.
Finished in a timeless Natural gloss, the grain of the wood is on full display, giving the instrument a refined, understated aesthetic that has aged gracefully over the decades. Condition is excellent overall, especially considering its 40+ years of life. There is one noticeable scuff on the top, though it appears superficial and may well respond to a careful buff if desired. Beyond that, you’ll find only the honest ageing and light playwear you’d expect from a well-cared-for vintage instrument.
It comes housed in a non-original Kinsman shaped hard case, providing solid protection while keeping the guitar ready for the road or studio.
