Very cool and quite rare Goldtop Refinish 1960s Grimshaw GS30 in Very Good condition!
We've just taken in this awesome bit of british guitar history! This ladies & gents is a super cool 1960s Grimshaw GS30! Made in Great Britain throughout the '60s & into the early '70s the GS30 was britain's answer to the iconic USA 'G' branded single-cut we all know and love.
This gorgeous GS30 you see before you has been very well cared for by the previous owner & is in superb shape! It has been professionally refinished with this gorgeous goldtop finish along with a beautiful period correct '60s Birgsby Tremolo! While one or two componants have been replaced such as the knobs and 3-way toggle switch, the instrument itself remains mostly original and both plays with a beautiful fluid & light feel, along with a meaty tone! While there are one or two small chips on the top edge of the headstock, the overall condition of the fine GS30 is remarkable!
" In 1959 Grimshaw made the first solid body electric guitar called “Meteor” very few were made and were replaced by the GS 30 in early 1960,s.
The Les Paul style (GS30) were impressive guitars and were the best selling model of the sixties over 400 were manufactured , at £135 they were more expensive than the Gibson original, which were only available second hand (it should be remembered that between 1961 and 1969 Gibson did not make the traditional Les Paul guitar).
