Epiphone EBV 232 Rivoli Bass 1964 - Sunburst

This is a 1964 USA Epiphone EBV-232 Rivoli bass guitar, an iconic semi-hollow bass from Epiphone’s golden era.

Just one owner since 1970, this example is in remarkable condition for its age. It shows honest playwear with the expected dings and marks of a vintage instrument, yet remains free from breaks or repairs—a true survivor. It plays very well and is currently strung with flatwound strings, which complement its warm vintage character. At some point prior to 1970, a cavity was neatly and expertly made to access the electronics; the work is tidy and functional, with the visible volume pot dating to 1963.

The neck features a nut width of 43.40mm, believed to be the slightly wider option Epiphone offered during this period, giving it a comfortable yet substantial feel.

The original “Sidewinder” humbucking pickup measures 8.21k and delivers a full, rich low-end response in both the forward and rear toggle positions, while the middle setting yields a noticeably thinner, more trebly tone. This makes the Rivoli surprisingly versatile, with classic thump on tap alongside more cutting tones.
