A very rare 1996 Taylor 655 12-String with a Florentine cutaway and beautifully figured flamed maple back and sides. Signed by Robert Taylor himself.

Built during one of Taylor’s golden eras, this model features a solid Sitka spruce top, solid big-leaf maple back and sides, a tropical American mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. The gloss natural finish highlights the stunning maple figure, with Taylor’s crisp binding and diamond inlays completing the look.

The tone is everything you’d hope for from a well-aged Taylor jumbo 12-string – big, rich and harmonically balanced, with shimmering top-end clarity and a tight, defined low end. Over nearly three decades it’s opened up beautifully, producing a deep and articulate resonance that records and amplifies superbly.

Playability is exceptional. The action is impressively low and comfortable for a 12-string, the frets are in great shape – nicely crowned and polished – and the neck has that fast, slim Taylor profile that makes long sessions a pleasure.

Condition is very good for its age, with only a few small chips and dings, plus some finish damage on the bottom of the body near the end pin jack output. This area has been inspected internally and is fully stable, purely cosmetic.
