Rolyford 1950`s Archtop acoustic 1950`s Gold

This is a really nice old Rolyford late 1950`s archtop acoustic in fantastic condition and playing order,

These were made by a guy called Wolfgang Huttie for export to the UK, the quality is fantastic with its bound body and neck, neat F holes and "artdeco" headstock inlay work.

Apparently, these guitars were commissioned and "named" by a UK retailer back in the 50`s. They are very similar to Framus guitars of the period even down to the style of the fingerboard inlays, but they are said to be unrelated. The quality is on par though and they are much rarer. I have a 1960`s Framus Black Rose and when you put the two together you can see why people might think they are one and the same. I would have come to the same conclusion after comparing them.

The frets have been changed down the years and they cleaned up well, polished and nice to play, the fingerboard is excellent with few signs of age-related wear. The tone and volume of this instrument is satisfyingly robust, It will not disappoint. In essence, it's a real player that functions as it should rather than just a nice old guitar to hang on the wall.

The neck is "old school" chunky and very comfortable in the player's hand,

It has a fine mottled gold finish with a patina that is pleasant to behold. The satin black finish on the neck is smooth and nice to hold.
Zero fret, original bridge and a stylish original nickel tailpiece completes the picture,

There are a few scrapes and dings mainly on the sides of the guitar but nothing to detract from the overall look of the instrument, no cracks or visible repairs,

This came to us many years ago from a local customer who's father brought it new for him when he was a teenager. His playing career didn't last unfortunately and it languished unused in a cupboard for many years before it came to us, It has been through the hands of our very talented guitar technician Glyn Withers and it's now ready for a new home,
