This is a very nice vintage Ovation Folklore 1614 Deep Bowl 12 Fret acoustic electric manufactured in the USA in 1979.

Our example was part of a large collection, although there are a few marks and some minor fret wear it is overall in excellent condition. The Solid Spruce top has a nice "Amber" hue,

There has been a professional repair undertaken to the top on the bass side of the top where your forearm would rest, it is hardly visible and completely stable.

We have put this guitar through our workshop and everything functions as it should. It has a lovely "soft" action and plays well.

It has a beautiful slot headstock, and Ebony fingerboard, and the top nut measures 48mm, Giving you plenty of space for fingerstyle playing. The back of the neck is in very good order.

These highly regarded and innovative acoustics were very much ahead of their time and the tone and live capabilities are still very impressive today.

How often do you see such a comfortable and stable five-piece smooth gloss finished neck today? How about having six individual Piezo Ceramic elements each balanced to serve the individual string that it amplifies? Way ahead of its time and still a class-leading system.

Then there is the famous bowl back, rather than the soundwaves bouncing around the sharp edges of a traditional acoustic body it is designed to project its acoustic sound far more efficiently and to give you more balance between the bass and treble, with no dominant mids, and improved dynamics.

This is a fine instrument with many years of playing left in it, sold with the original Ovation hardshell case.
