Up for sale is a 2013 Mesa Boogie Express 5:25 2-Channel 25-Watt 1x12 Combo in a striking oxblood finish, and it presents in excellent condition. This is one of those rare compact combos that manages to feel genuinely “Mesa” in every sense, responsive, dynamic, and capable of going from clean sparkle to saturated drive without ever feeling like it’s running out of headroom or personality.

At its core, the Express 5:25 is built around a 2-channel architecture with multiple voicing modes per channel, giving you a surprising amount of tonal range in a very straightforward layout. Channel 1 covers everything from pristine cleans to slightly pushed breakup, with a clarity and dimensionality that makes single-coils shimmer and humbuckers feel balanced rather than congested. There’s a natural compression as you push it, but it stays articulate, never collapsing into mud.

Channel 2 is where things open up further. It moves from classic crunch into more saturated, lead-focused territory, with enough gain on tap to handle modern rock and heavier styles while still retaining the definition Mesa is known for. Notes stay separated under gain, chords remain readable, and lead lines have that familiar singing quality without becoming overly smooth or artificial.

The 5-watt / 25-watt multi-watt power section is a big part of what makes this amp so usable. At lower wattage, it compresses earlier and becomes ideal for recording or home use, while the full 25-watt mode gives you enough volume and headroom for rehearsal or smaller gigs without feeling underpowered. It’s the kind of flexibility that makes you reach for it far more often than you’d expect from a combo this size.

The onboard reverb adds just enough space without washing out your tone, and the simple yet effective EQ section keeps dialing in sounds fast and intuitive. Mesa’s attention to feel is just as important as tone here, the response under your fingers is immediate, and the amp reacts dynamically to picking strength and guitar volume changes in a way that encourages you to actually play rather than tweak endlessly.

The 1x12 speaker delivers focused projection with a tight low end and a forward midrange that helps the amp sit naturally in a mix. It has enough punch for live use but remains controlled enough for recording environments where mic placement and clarity matter.

Condition is excellent throughout. It has been well cared for, fully functional, and shows only light signs of use consistent with careful ownership. The oxblood tolex gives it a distinctive, boutique look that stands out from standard black finishes without feeling over the top.

This amp also comes complete with the original Mesa Boogie footswitch and fitted slipcover, making it a fully intact and stage-ready package right out of the gate.
