A seriously classy piece of vintage German craftsmanship, this 1960s Höfner 5125/05 President Florentine Cutaway in Brunette is the kind of guitar that quietly commands attention the moment you open the case. It’s got that unmistakable old-world charm Höfner did so well, elegant, refined, and built with a level of care that’s increasingly hard to come by.
The Brunette finish has aged beautifully over the decades, developing a rich, warm patina that only time can create. There’s a depth to the colour that shifts subtly in the light, highlighting the grain of the wood and giving the whole instrument a really organic, lived-in feel without tipping into wear or neglect. This one’s been exceptionally well looked after, and it shows, clean throughout, with only the kind of light, honest signs of age you’d expect from a guitar of this era.
The Florentine cutaway not only adds a touch of visual flair but makes upper fret access far more comfortable, whether you’re comping jazz chords or exploring melodic lines further up the neck. The neck itself feels great in the hand, nicely settled, easy to navigate, and paired with a smooth-playing fingerboard that invites long sessions.
