Gibson L-Junior 1919 - 1926 - Brown

Persons looking for this product

This guitar is a real rarity, only produced by Gibson in the old Kalamazoo factory between 1919 - 1925, and its in very good condition for the year.

Historically it's very desirable, as it has the Gibson 'snakehead' headstock, and to add to the guitar's authenticity the tailpiece is correctly stamped 'Patented July 19 1910'. Also, it's a rare example of an arched Spruce top guitar with a central sound hole.

This guitar has numerous chips marks and dings as one would expect but no cracks or repairs, we have also black-light tested it and there is no sign of any overspray or repairs. The bridge has been replaced along with the top nut. The top nut is 51mm and the chunky Mahogany neck is a V profile that’s nice in the hand.

Tonally it's voiced for blues and jazz. We think it would inspire a song or two out of any creative guitarist. It is so nice to have a guitar like this in the store, a real piece of Gibson history that is still relatively affordable.

These were the predecessors to the flat top L1 that Robert Johnson famously played - and can recreate that Leadbelly growl very closely with this guitar. The feel of the guitar is very nice - it is like holding a piece of history, and it plays well too,

Sol with a non-original hard case.
