Gibson Herb Ellis ES-165 1994 - Vintage Sunburst

This is a very nice example of a 1994 Gibson ES-165 Herb Ellis Signature archtop semi-acoustic guitar.

Presented for sale in overall excellent condition. It is set up to perfection with a set of Tomasitik 11 gauge flat wound strings.

Maple top back and sides with a Mahogany neck (24 3/4 scale) and factory-fitted Gold Grover machine heads. Dual-parallelogram mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlays on nicely figured Rosewood Some light marks and signs of use but in very good shape for the year.

The is some light lacquer checking on the headstock and a few small marks on the back edge of the "open book" headstock.

The back of the neck is nice and smooth as the lacquer has worn away through playing. The frets are excellent nicely polished and crowned. There is some light wear visible on the gold plating around the Tune-o-matic area as one would expect from an old used guitar.

It has a Seymour Duncan Antiquity humbucker fitted and is being sold with the original Gibson Classic humbucker. It also has an upgraded paper and oil cap.

These are essentially a single-pickup ES-175, and a rare find today. A wonderful arch-top Jazzer from a great period of Gibson guitar manufacture.

We have known this guitar since the late 1990s and it has been well looked after by one of our very good customers who is sad to see it go.

Sold with its original Gibson Brown hardshell case.
