Gibson Explorer Gothic 2001

Up for sale is a superb 2001 Gibson Explorer Gothic, a model that has become something of a cult classic among Gibson enthusiasts. With its stripped-back aesthetics, satin black finish, and uncompromising attitude, the Gothic series perfectly captured the heavier side of Gibson's lineup while retaining all of the legendary tone and playability the Explorer is known for.

This example is in Very Good condition and has clearly been enjoyed over the years. As is common with Gibson's satin finishes of this era, the original Satin Ebony finish has naturally polished to a gloss across much of the instrument through regular playing, giving it a unique appearance and plenty of honest character. There are also a number of dings and cosmetic marks around the body consistent with a well-played 2001 guitar, all of which are purely cosmetic and in keeping with its age.

Despite the cosmetic wear, this Explorer remains an exceptional player. The neck feels fast and comfortable, the frets are in great shape, and the guitar resonates beautifully before it's even plugged in. It has the lively, open response and impressive sustain that have made the Explorer one of Gibson's most revered designs.
