Gibson Crest "Gold" Thinline Brazilian Rosewood 1969

This is a beautiful Gibson Crest "Gold" Thinline book-matched Brazilian Rosewood manufactured in 1969.

These were only produced for a short period and only 162 of these guitars were ever made.

This example is in its original condition, obviously a cared-for instrument. Some minor lacquer checking and fret wear but all in keeping with the instrument's age.

Sold with its original case which is also in excellent condition.

As this guitar is made from Brazilian Rosewood we cannot ship outside of the UK.

A double-cut thinline similar in appearance to an ES-355 but constructed from figured Brazilian rosewood veneer, it had no solid block in the body, leaving it fully hollow like the ES-330. A very light and manageable instrument. The body also has a center back strip of decorative wood marquetry and is top-bound with multiple plies of white/black and the back is triple-bound. The elevated pickguard is matching Brazilian rosewood veneer bound in multiple plies of white/black like the body. The guitar had two f-shaped sound holes, each triple-bound. The workmanship on display is first class.

The electronics included two “floating” mini-humbucking pickups with individual Volume and Tone controls and a pickup selector toggle on the lower treble bout. The pickups were mounted using L-brackets and there were no body routs or cutouts. The bridge is removable with a two-footed rosewood base and a Tune-O-Matic top. The trapeze-style tailpiece had three raised parallelograms on the crossbar and a Brazilian rosewood centerpiece with inlaid MOP trapezoid and etched with “Crest” in script.
