Absolutely stunning 1962 Relic Stratocaster in thin-skin nitrocellulose Candy Tangerine 2007 20th Anniversary Limited Edition,

This example has been exceptionally well cared for. The setup is excellent, the frets are in very good order, and it plays beautifully. It currently has a set of Monty’s “’62 Stratocaster single-coil pickups fitted, which are superb, and it is being sold with its original Abigail Ybarra (AY) pickup set included in the sale!

These 2007 Custom Shop Strat’s were super high specification Limited Editions, featuring a quarter-sawn Maple 65 “C” neck, Rosewood board and a 9.5” radius. Lightweight Ash body, you can slightly make out the figuring through its thin shin Nitro finish when you look, very nice!

Its Candy Tangerine finish was apparently chosen to mirror the way original early-60s Red Strats mellow into a softer, slightly off-red shade over time. This guitar was built as a limited-run Custom Shop 20th Anniversary NAMM 2007 showcase piece, intended to demonstrate what the Custom Shop could do at its very best.

There are a few small areas of light ageing, but the thin-skin finish is largely untouched. It is widely believed that the Custom Shop chose to keep the body finish clean on this one because the grain of the lightweight ash was particularly attractive. Hand-selected by GAK as a one-off, it stands apart from other examples from the same run.

The Custom Shop 1969 single coils included with the guitar are initialled AY for Abigail Ybarra, confirming that these were produced under her supervision — always a point of interest for serious collectors and Strat aficionados.

The guitar comes complete with all original case candy (unopened), COA, and the original shop-floor traveller. The Spirit of Rock and Roll!
