A wonderfully cool example of a 1970s Epiphone EA-250, this Cherry-finished semi-hollow is a great representation of the distinctive Japanese-made Epiphone instruments of the era. With its classic vintage styling, dual-pickup configuration and vibrato tailpiece, the EA-250 has plenty of character and offers a fantastic alternative to some of the more familiar names from the period.

This particular example is in Very Good condition and remains all original to our knowledge, with the exception of a single replacement knob. The Cherry finish has picked up the expected collection of light marks, dings and general signs of use over the years, all of which feel entirely appropriate for an instrument of this age. There is a particular mark on the top of the body that appears to be where a sticker may once have been applied, along with a graze to the side of the lower horn. These details are all shown in the accompanying photographs.

More importantly, this EA-250 is a real pleasure to play and sounds beautiful. The combination of its semi-hollow construction, vintage-style electronics and vibrato tailpiece gives it a wonderfully lively character, with plenty of warmth and resonance while retaining the clarity and definition you'd expect from a well-preserved example of this era.

A great-looking and genuinely enjoyable 1970s Epiphone with plenty of vintage character. With its largely original specification, distinctive Cherry finish and beautiful playing and tonal qualities, this EA-250 would make a fantastic addition to any collection while being equally deserving of regular playing.
