Eko Ranger XII 12-String Acoustic Guitar – Late 1960s Vintage

Just in is this wonderfully honest late 1960s Eko Ranger XII 12-String Acoustic Guitar, one of the true unsung heroes of the folk and rock boom of the 1960s and 1970s.

For many players growing up during that era, the Eko Ranger was their first serious acoustic guitar. Built in Italy and renowned for their durability, these guitars earned a reputation for surviving years of rehearsals, pub gigs, campfires and student flats with barely a complaint. While American acoustics may have grabbed the headlines, the Ranger quietly became one of Europe's best-loved working guitars, and today they are finally receiving the recognition they deserve.

Eko guitars found favour with a number of artists during the period, including early instruments used by Jimmy Page, while countless British and European folk musicians relied on Ranger models for their dependable construction and unmistakable 12-string sound.

This particular example wears its years proudly. There are numerous marks, small dings and signs of honest use throughout, exactly what you would expect from a guitar that has spent decades making music. The original pickguard has been replaced, but otherwise the instrument retains all the charm and character that vintage Eko guitars are known for.

Our workshop has carried out a full inspection, professional setup and fret dress, leaving the guitar playing exceptionally well with a comfortable action across the fingerboard. Vintage 12-strings can often feel cumbersome, but this Ranger is remarkably easy to play and is ready to be enjoyed straight away.

Tonally, the Ranger XII delivers everything you would hope for from a classic vintage 12-string. It has a bright, chiming top end with plenty of sparkle, balanced by a warm, woody midrange and a surprisingly full bass response. The laminated construction gives it excellent projection and focus, producing the rich natural chorus effect that makes 12-string guitars so addictive. Whether you're strumming open chords, accompanying vocals or exploring folk, classic rock and singer-songwriter material, it produces that unmistakable shimmering sound heard on countless recordings from the era.
