Gibson SG Special White 1984

Up for sale is a very special 1984 Gibson SG Special, an all-original example that has developed a huge amount of vintage character over the last four decades. Originally finished in white, the nitrocellulose lacquer has beautifully mellowed over time into a rich, creamy vintage hue, giving the guitar an unmistakable look that simply can't be replicated.

Clearly a well-loved and regularly played instrument, it now wears its age proudly. There are a handful of dings and marks around the body, along with some lacquer wrinkling that has naturally developed over the years, all of which are clearly shown in our photographs. None of this detracts from the guitar's charm or playability; rather, it tells the story of an instrument that has spent its life doing exactly what it was built to do.

At some point in its life, the guitar sustained a neck break where the neck meets the body. This has since been professionally repaired by a renowned local luthier, with the repair completed to an excellent standard. The guitar is structurally solid, plays beautifully, and has been thoroughly assessed to ensure it is ready for many more years of service.

Built with a solid mahogany body, mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard, this SG delivers the lively resonance and unmistakable punch that have made the model a favourite of rock, blues, and punk players for generations.
