Martin J-40 M 1988

This is a 1988 Martin J-40M vintage acoustic guitar.

One of the early examples of Chris Martins design project to add a Jumbo acoustic to the Martin range back in the 1980’s. This model is still in production today.

Spruce top and Rosewood back and sides. Featuring a comfortable low profile Mahogany neck with an Ebony fingerboard and a 43mm top nut.

This fine instrument has had a life and, while obviously a well-used example, It has opened up tonally and it has a very impressive full rich balanced sound that you can only get after putting the years in and actually playing a guitar like this. It also benefits from a Fishman under saddle active pickup ready for stage or recording use.

It has had a neck re-set and there has been a repair made to the bridge plate. There are numerous minor marks and signs on lacquer checking all in keeping with its age and use. There is plenty of life left in the nicely polished frets and the playing action is very comfortable.

There are super versatile acoustics with great volume balance and dynamics and this player grade Martin J40 will not disappoint,
