Marshall 5005 Lead 12 Combo – UK Made – Celestion Speaker
Here we have a very cool and increasingly sought after Marshall 5005 Lead 12 solid-state combo amplifier, proudly UK made during a period when Marshall were building genuinely robust, great sounding amplifiers here in Britain. Compact, simple and incredibly usable, these little combos have earned a strong reputation amongst players for delivering authentic Marshall character at sensible volumes.
Condition-wise, this example is presented in excellent overall condition with only a few light scuffs and minor signs of careful use. It has clearly been very well looked after throughout its life. As with all new arrivals at Motomusic, the amplifier has been fully checked and tested in our onsite workshop to ensure everything is functioning exactly as it should for its next owner.
Tonally, the 5005 punches far above its size. The clean tones are warm and surprisingly full-bodied, whilst the overdriven sounds deliver that unmistakable classic Marshall midrange growl with plenty of bite, crunch and harmonic character. It excels at classic rock and blues tones, but also works brilliantly as a home practice or studio amplifier where manageable volume and strong core tone are essential. The responsive analogue solid-state circuit gives the amp a direct, immediate feel that reacts exceptionally well to picking dynamics and guitar volume adjustments.
The simple control layout is part of the charm and usability of these amplifiers. Featuring Preamp and Master Volume controls alongside an effective 4-band EQ section, the amp allows a surprisingly broad range of tones without unnecessary complexity. High and Low sensitivity inputs further increase versatility depending on pickup output and playing style.
