PRODUCT DETAILS

A very cool late-1980s Kramer American Pacer Custom II in the classic Champagne finish, offered here in very good condition and appearing to retain much of its original specification.

This is a particularly appealing example of one of Kramer's best-known 1980s designs. The Pacer Custom II was built around the high-performance superstrat concept, combining a comfortable double-cutaway body, fast-playing neck, powerful electronics and a locking tremolo system.

As you would expect from an instrument now approaching four decades old, there are various dings, marks and signs of playing wear. The most notable point is the condition of the hardware, which shows a fair amount of corrosion and oxidation. This is entirely consistent with the age of the guitar, but is worth noting and is clearly visible in the photographs.

The guitar appears to be largely original, with its original-style pickups, electronics, tuners and tremolo system still in place. We believe the bridge pickup mounting ring has been replaced at some point. The tremolo arm is also missing.

The Champagne finish remains particularly attractive and works beautifully with the dark hardware, giving the guitar a very cool late-1980s appearance. There is plenty of honest age and character here, rather than an artificially reliced look.

Tonally, the Pacer Custom II has the focused and immediate character associated with the best superstrats of the period. It has plenty of attack and upper-mid presence, a tight low end and enough output to work exceptionally well with overdriven and high-gain valve amplifiers. It is equally comfortable with hard rock, metal and more traditional rock sounds, while retaining good dynamics and responsiveness from the guitar's volume control.

This Kramer has been through our onsite workshop where it has been inspected and checked over by our team. It remains a very enjoyable and highly playable instrument and is ready for its next owner.

Overall, a very good and largely original example of a late-1980s American Kramer Pacer Custom II, with genuine age-related character and the unmistakable look and feel of this great period of Kramer production.
