PRODUCT DETAILS
Here we have something truly special 1964/1965 Gretsch G6120 Chet Atkins Nashville in its unmistakable Orange Stain finish. An icon of the mid-’60s and a cornerstone of rock ’n’ roll, country, and rockabilly history, the 6120 remains one of the most visually and sonically distinctive hollowbody guitars ever produced.
This example is in Very Good condition for its age and presents exactly as a well-loved vintage Gretsch should. The most notable cosmetic issue is binding deterioration, a widely known and common characteristic of Gretsch instruments from this era. It does not detract from the guitar’s overall vibe but is worth noting for transparency. The frets are in great shape, and the guitar plays cleanly and comfortably across the board.
The original string damper is missing, though the mechanism itself is still installed. The bridge may have been replaced at some point in its lifetime, but otherwise the guitar appears to remain largely original. It retains all the personality, feel, and tonal character you’d expect from a mid-’60s Nashville model.
Plugged in, this 6120 delivers that classic Gretsch sparkle and snap—bright, articulate highs, woody mids, and a lively, airy hollowbody resonance. It excels at rockabilly twang, vintage country shimmer, early British Invasion crunch, and warm, expressive clean tones. There’s an openness and immediacy to the sound that only a genuinely aged hollowbody can produce.
Visually, the Orange Stain finish has matured beautifully over time, giving it depth, warmth, and authentic vintage appeal. It looks every bit the classic stage guitar it was designed to be.
The guitar comes with its original case, along with some original parts, and also includes the Hiscox hardcase pictured for added protection and practicality.
A charismatic and highly desirable 1964/1965 Gretsch G6120 Chet Atkins Nashville, full of vintage charm, tone, and mid-’60s character. With original case, additional parts, and a Hiscox hardcase included, this is a fantastic opportunity to own an authentic Gretsch classic with decades of musical history behind it.
