A really special Gibson acoustic with genuine musical history behind it.

This particular example is in excellent condition, with a fantastic playing action and a beautifully opened-up tone. The guitar has no significant chips or dings, just some light playing marks consistent with careful use, and we would describe the overall condition as very good. The sound has matured beautifully over the years and the tone has opened up significantly — warm, resonant and full, with that unmistakable Gibson acoustic character. In short, it’s everything you want a Gibson acoustic to be.

This is a 2009 Gibson Sheryl Crow Southern Jumbo, formerly owned by renowned singer-songwriter Amy Wadge. We originally sold the guitar to Amy when it was new, and it has remained with her ever since. Amy has primarily used it as a studio guitar, adding another interesting chapter to its story and helping to explain the beautifully mature, open tone it has developed over the years.

The Sheryl Crow Southern Jumbo is based around Gibson’s classic Southern Jumbo design, combining the familiar slope-shoulder dreadnought body with a traditional Gibson acoustic voice. Produced as part of Gibson’s collaboration with Sheryl Crow, it is a particularly characterful take on one of Gibson’s most enduring acoustic designs.

The provenance here is what makes this guitar particularly special. Amy Wadge is a highly respected Welsh singer-songwriter, musician and producer, with a long and distinguished career as both an artist and songwriter. She is perhaps best known internationally for her long-standing songwriting partnership with Ed Sheeran.

Having originally supplied the guitar to Amy when new, we are delighted to have the opportunity to offer it for sale again. As an added bonus, Amy has kindly agreed to write a letter to the new owner personally confirming her former ownership of the guitar. This will accompany the instrument, giving the next owner something rather special to keep with the guitar and its original documentation.

Sonically, this is a great example of a Gibson acoustic that has simply got better with age. The tone is warm, woody and open, with plenty of depth, resonance and projection. There is a lovely balance between a strong fundamental and the natural complexity that develops in a well-played acoustic over time.

The Sheryl Crow appointments give the guitar plenty of vintage-inspired character, while the underlying Southern Jumbo design keeps it familiar, comfortable and extremely usable.

It comes complete with the original Gibson case and paperwork, along with the letter from Amy Wadge confirming her former ownership.

A beautiful Gibson acoustic with an excellent playing feel, a seriously good mature tone and genuine musical provenance. Originally supplied new by us to Amy Wadge, used by her as a studio instrument, and now available for its next chapter.
